THE ISTANBUL APIMONDIA CONGRESS CONCLUDED

Finally, after the pandemic and Putin's invasion of Ukraine, the Apimondia Congress could be held last August in Istanbul. The congress itself, although light, had moments of exchange and interesting presentations. At the fair, the effort of local and regional companies to participate and fill the expo was noted. The absence of many European, Chinese and logically Russian companies was noted. From Latin America only three countries participated with pavilions; the presence of Brazil was highlighted with a large, imposing, beautiful and orderly pavilion. Chile had an important, discreet pavilion, where they promoted the next Apimondia congress to be held in Santiago de Chile 2023. For its part, Argentina, with little and weak presence of companies, presented two pavilions, one organized by the former Fundación Exportar in which they exhibited Argenmieles, Bionatura and three cooperative groups; the other pavilion, set up by the CFI, stood out for its disorder and served as a frame for the photo that different politicians and public officials went to take there. What most caught our attention from the congress will be published in our next edition of Espacio Apícola. Finally Apimondia 2025 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

CALL TO SOLIDARITY

The shed of Walter Alegre, a beekeeper in the Middle Valley of the Río Negro, Argentina, caught fire recently. He lost all the suppers, queen rearing material and the entire extraction room. Walter is well known in the south of the country and is a regular exhibitor at ExpoMiel Azul. Only the hives in the field were saved. Those who can donate beekeeping material are asked to contact Pablo Burgardt, from Coronel Suárez. Those who can donate money in solidarity, can do so directly to Walter Alegre's account in MercadoPago CVU: 0000003100057104752315 - his tax number 20-27186362-5.
